The Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has decided to establish a 33/11 KV substation at Kedarnath to strengthen the power supply system at the shrine.
The managing director of the UPCL, Anil Kumar Yadav said that in view of the increasing power demand during the pilgrim season, UPCL is constructing a substation to ensure uninterrupted, quality, and secure power supply to pilgrims, local consumers, commercial establishments, and administrative units. This will make power supply in the Kedarnath area more stable and enable quick power restoration even during adverse weather or emergency situations.
“Under this project, a state of the art 33/11 KV substation with a total capacity of 2 x 5 MVA is being established at Shri Kedarnath Dham in Rudraprayag district. The station will be equipped with modern safety equipment, advanced control systems, and high-capacity transformers, ensuring its optimal operation even in the difficult geographical and climatic conditions of the high-altitude region,’’ he said.
He said that the UPCL is consistently striving to strengthen and modernise power supply along the Char Dham Yatra routes and religious sites.
