New centre for innovation starts in Doon University

With the objective of bridging the gap between the emerging industry standards and the digital skills of the university students, a centre of innovation, incubation, entrepreneurship, and industry relations (CIIEIR) was inaugurated at Doon University on Monday.  On the occasion of the launch of the centre, a one-day workshop on emerging issues in digital entrepreneurship was organised. 

Speaking on the occasion, the vice chancellor of the Doon University Surekha Dangwal said the new centre, CIIEIR, is the need of the hour and it also aligns with the new education policy of the country.  “This Centre will empower students with innovation, and creativity inputs, which will create future student entrepreneurship opportunities along with focusing on digital humanity. Entrepreneurship is an evolving field of study that comes under different disciplines of management, communication, economics, centre for research and development, design, computer science and many other fields of subjects,’’ she said.

The CIIEIR coordinator and head, the School of Social Sciences, RP Mamgain informed about the employment challenges faced by the country and how the centre will empower university students by generating new entrepreneur projects.

The dean, Student Welfare and head, of the School of Management, HC Purohit said that the new centre aims to foster student’s creativity for creating future employability, and sustainable standards of living. The process from mission to vision, vision to goal, goal to objective runs along with university studies. One idea can revolutionise the whole industry, he said.
