First randomisation of EVM & VVPAT held in Doon

The first round of randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) was held in the presence of the district election officer of Dehradun/district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar and political representatives on Wednesday.

The randomisation of a total of 2,370 EVMs and 2,714 VVPAT machines was held during the first round in the district for all 10 constituencies. Besides this, randomisation of 2,370 control units (CUS) was also carried out in the presence of political representatives. Kumar informed that the randomisation process was carried out with the help of EMS (EVM Management System) software developed by the Election Commission of India and a copy of the same will be sent to the representatives of all political parties too.

In the first round of the randomisation, 341 EVMs and 414 VVPATs were for Chakrata, 171 EVMs and 192 VVPATs for Vikasnagar, 253 EVMs and 285 VVPATs for Sahaspur and 292 EVMs and 333 VVPATs for Dharampur constituencies. Besides this, 270 EVMs and 312 VVPATs were for Raipur, 178 EVMs and 206 VVPATs for Rajpur, 190 EVMs and 213 VVPATs for Dehradun Cantt, 221 EVMs and 244 VVPATs for Mussoorie, 215 EVMs and 243 VVPATs for Rishikesh and 239 EVMs and 272 VVPATs for Doiwala constituencies. The DM said that the returning officers (ROs) of respective constituencies would get the EVMs on January 22 and 23 in the district.

He directed all the ROs to submit the name and details of personnel to get EVMs and asked them to stay vigilant at every front till the elections. All ROs and representatives of political parties like Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, Aam Aadmi Party and Uttarakhand Kranti Dal were also present during the randomisation process.
