Launches new scholarship programmes of UPES

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the new scholarship programme of the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) here on Wednesday. Lauding the scholarship programme under which 100  students would be selected every year, the CM said that any major institute or university not only caters to the students and their bright future but also influences positive changes in the lives of people residing in its vicinity. They create employment opportunities for the locals as well. The CM said that UPES should concentrate on what contribution it can make for the rural and the border areas of the state. He said that the UPES plan of providing scholarship to talented sportspersons and the poor but bright students is very appreciable.

The CM also inaugurated the centre of Indian knowledge set up in the university to promote, preserve and study the culture and art forms of Uttarakhand. The CM said that the country is making rapid strides on the path of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that everyone should work as karma yogi to fulfil the dreams the PM has for the nation.  Dhami said that under leadership of Modi a mega vaccination programme was started in the country in which more than 192 crore vaccinations were done. He said that National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 has been brought to make revolutionary changes in the education system and Uttarakhand has implemented the policy. The CM also expressed his wishes on the occasion of Guru Purnima.

The Sahaspur MLA Sahdev Pundir, vice chancellor of the university Sunil Rai, pro vice chancellor Ram Sharma, registrar Manish Madan and others were present on the occasion.
