Nainital decked up for New Year celebrations

Unlike in the past couple of years when Covid-19 was affecting the travel plans of people, Nainital is all decked up for New Year celebrations this time with a considerable number of tourists expected to arrive here. Various hotels have already made various packages along with planning dance and music programmes to be held on New Year’s eve. The Mall Road has also been decked up for the occasion with colourful illuminations.

A considerable number of tourists arrive in Nainital especially to celebrate the New Year every year. The past couple of years saw very limited tourist arrivals due to the Covid-19 pandemic but the situation is different this year. With tourists already having started arriving here, the hotels and other hospitality businesses have also made various arrangements for the celebrations to welcome te new year. The hotels here have booked music bands from big cities like Delhi and Mumbai for the new year parties they have planned. The packages made by the hotels here include special entertainment programmes for children and dance competitions for couples. In addition to this, different events have been planned for the aged tourists.

The popular three days and two nights package in the hotels also includes an interesting menu of various tasty dishes. The hotel staff has started decorating the hotel buildings based on different themes. Some hotels have also incorporated regional cuisine and folk music to make their programmes more interesting and entertaining. At the same time, the Mall Road has also been decorated with colourful illuminations. According to sources in the local hospitality business, prominent hotels have so far registered 70 per cent booking in advance.

The rates of the three-day package in prominent hotels range from Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000.

The Nainital hotel and restaurant association head Digvijay Singh Bisht said that the association has also made arrangements to organise programmes as in the past. Light strings have been put up in various locations in the city while special arrangements have also been made for music, he added.
