Need to preserve human values in AI age: Tiwari

The Information director general Banshidhar Tiwari said that there is a need to preserve humanity during the prevailing age of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Addressing a seminar on the role of public relations in responsible use of Artificial Intelligence on National Public Relations Day on Monday, he said that in this era of rapid technological advancement, it is our collective responsibility to uphold human values.
He noted that while AI saves time, one must be mindful of how the saved time is used. He encouraged staying connected with both social media and family/society. Tiwari said that before forwarding or sharing any information, it is vital to verify its authenticity, as misinformation can have a negative impact on individuals and society alike. Stressing on responsible use of AI, he said that while AI can generate content, integrating personal thoughts and experiences is essential.
Information joint director Nitin Upadhyaya said as AI becomes more prevalent, it is crucial to set boundaries on its use. He emphasised that one must not become entirely dependent on AI. Senior journalist Anupam Trivedi said that science provides conveniences but also introduces problems. He said that with the rapid development of AI, fake news has emerged as a major challenge due to its misuse. Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee CEO Vijay Thapliyal and PRSI Dehradun president Ravi Bijarnia also addressed the gathering.
