The voices of dissent have started emanating from within the Congress party after its central leadership made sweeping changes in the Uttarakhand unit of the party on Thursday.

After Dharchula MLA Harish Dhami questioned the rationale behind appointment of four working presidents, senior Congress leader Nav Prabhat has refused to accept the charge of president of the election manifesto committee. Dhami said that the Congress leadership probably wants its working presidents not to contest the elections themselves and instead focus on all 70 assembly seats.

Nav Prabhat told The Pioneer that the party has put forward a face (Harish Rawat) to lead it in the assembly elections of 2022 and in such a situation he should be allowed to formulate the manifesto of the party. Nav Prabhat denied that he had any grudge on the issue of leadership.
