Names of stadiums not changed, says Sports Dept

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
Addressing the allegation levelled by the Congress and others on social media, the Sports department has clarified that the names of individual stadiums have not been changed. The entire sports complex has been renamed. The State government recently integrated the sports infrastructure in four cities and assigned new names to these complexes.
The integrated sports infrastructure in Raipur and Dehradun will now be referred to as the Rajat Jayanti Sports Complex. This complex includes the Maharana Pratap Sports College, Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, and various other sports facilities in both cities.
Similarly, the Indira Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hockey Ground, Swimming Pool, Multipurpose Hall and other sports infrastructures at Gaulapar in Haldwani, will now be known as the Manaskhand Sports Complex. In Rudrapur, the Manoj Sarkar Stadium, Cycling Velodrome and other sports facilities have been combined and renamed the Shivalik Sports Complex. Additionally, the Vandana Kataria Hockey Stadium at Roshnabad in Haridwar, along with the multipurpose hall, swimming pool and other sports facilities, will be integrated into the Yogasthal Sports Complex.
Despite this rebranding, some media outlets and social media platforms have reported that the names of the stadiums within these complexes have been replaced with new names. In this regard, additional director in-charge of Sports, Ajay Kumar Agarwal has clarified that the names of the Maharana Pratap Sports College, Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium and all other facilities under the Silver Jubilee Sports Complex, as well as the Indira Gandhi International Cricket Stadium and its associated facilities built under the Manaskhand Sports Complex, The Manoj Sarkar Stadium Multipurpose Hall, Velodrome, and other facilities built under the Shivalik Sports Complex, along with the Vandana Kataria Hockey Stadium Multipurpose Hall, swimming pool, and all other facilities built under the Yogasthal Sports Complex, remain unchanged.
He further clarified that no modifications have been made to these names. The information suggesting otherwise is misleading and inaccurate. The Sports department has only given a name to the entire sports complex, while the names of the various sports facilities established within these complexes will stay the same. Future sports infrastructure built will also be included under these complex names.
