Nainital’s roads to be pothole free soon: DM

The Nainital district magistrate Dhiraaj Singh Garbyal has issued orders to the Public Works Department (PWD) to start working on making the roads of the district pothole free.

He said that the administration has already got approval to carry out renovation work in 2023-24 to make the district pot-hole free. He said that all the main roads of the district like the Nainital- Kaladhungi- Bazpur road, Bhowali- Nainital- Kilbaritanki-Pangot road, Kathgodam- Haidakhan- Semalia road and Amritpur-Banna- Babiyad road will be repaired with the budget of Rs 375.67 lakhs, Rs 69.94 lakh, Rs 328.43 lakh and Rs 112.50 lakh respectively. Several roads including Ramnagar – Bhandarpani – Amgadi – Bohrakot – Okhaldhunga – Talli Sethi – Betalghat – Ratoda – Bhujan – Vishalkot – Jina – Ritchie – Billekh, Nainital-Kaladhungi-Bazpur road and Sardar Nagar- Keshowala-Bannakheda-Bailpadow- Kaladhungi- Kotabagh road will also be made pothole free with the budget of over Rs 1,400 lakh. He also directed the PWD officials to commence working on roads of 15 prominent tourist places of the district to make them pothole free before the tourist season starts. The DM said that all these initiatives will benefit locals as well as help increase the number of tourists this year.
