Nainital district admin gears up for monsoon eventualities

With the monsoon season drawing near, the Nainital district administration has made extensive preparations to deal with any heavy rain-triggered eventuality. To deal with any emergency situation, the district administration has deployed NDRF and SDRF personnel at sensitive places. Besides, it has put all departments on alert mode.
The additional district magistrate, Vivek Rai said that the district administration and the disaster management department have set up a control room for information about incidents which will remain active 24 hours. “Through this control room, quick response will be ensured in any emergency situation. Besides, special flood posts have been set up in the disaster-sensitive riverside areas. Local administration, police and disaster management personnel have been deployed at these posts so that any kind of untoward incident can be dealt with in time,” he said, adding that JCB machines have already been deployed at over 100 sensitive and landslide-prone places across Nainital district to ensure that the blocked roads are reopened immediately in case of debris falling on them.
