A massive fire broke out at a hotel in Mussoorie due to a short circuit during renovation work. The Sidus Rink hotel located on Mussoorie’s Camel Road was evacuated safely and no injuries were reported, as per the police. The officials said that the hotel building and two parked cars burnt to ashes before fire service personnel could control the blaze. They said that around three to four workers who were inside the building escaped without injuries while the owner was also rescued.

The officials said that the renovation work was going on at the multi- storeyed hotel because of which there were no guests. The fire brigade, police, and ITBP teams immediately reached the spot soon after getting information but by then the entire hotel was engulfed in flames. Many ITBP water tankers also arrived at the spot but the damage was done by then. However no casualties were reported. As per the police, the fire started around 4 AM on Sunday and soon engulfed the entire hotel. Two cars parked nearby also caught fire and were completely gutted. The fire tenders soon reached the spot to control the fire from spreading to other structures. They said that it appears in the primary investigation that an electrical short circuit caused the fire and since the renovation work involved lots of wood inside the hotel, it spread quite quickly.  The police said that it took over six hours to control the fire. The hotel owner and some labourers were inside when the fire broke out. The workers managed to escape while the owner was rescued by the fire brigade and police team after breaking a window. The fire was controlled in the afternoon and all rescued people were safe, said the police.
