Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal expressed displeasure over the failure of municipal bodies to submit Aadhaar verification reports of contractual workers engaged in waste management, streetlight repairs and other related tasks by the due date.
He directed all municipal corporations, municipalities and nagar panchayats to submit the required verification reports to the Secretary, Home Department within a day. The DM said that the district administration had instructed all urban local bodies to submit the Aadhaar verification reports of workers employed under contract in civic services on May 18 but none of the municipal bodies had submitted the reports by the deadline. He called this a serious lapse in official responsibilities.
Bansal said that that the government has made Aadhaar verification mandatory for contractual workers in various departments. The verification process aims to confirm the identity of the workers and assess their eligibility for government services and benefits. He reiterated that all municipal bodies must ensure the immediate submission of the verification reports to the State government without further delay.
