Mrs India Maharashtra 2018 conferred on Kankhal lady

Poonam Bisht, 36, a daughter-in-law of Kankhal, Haridwar, has won the crown of Mrs. India Maharashtra. Besides, she was one of the five finalists of Mrs. India 2018 beauty pageant organized by Elite Club in Delhi. She had got married to Prashant Bisht, a resident of Gopaldham in a small township Kankhal, Haridwar and presently her husband is serving the Indian Army as Colonel in Pune. In all, 44 participants came from various States of the country and five found their way in the final round. Poonam was finally crowned with the title. Speaking to The Pioneer, Poonam said, “Through this beauty pageant, I have taken up the cause of women empowerment, uplifting the status of the women in the society. It can be achieved through imparting education and enhancing the skills of the girls. They must be given their basic rights to live with dignity and respect so that they are part of shining India with a bright and safe future.” Poonam has been involved in various projects focused on women empowerment for the past many years. She said she has been striving for better educational facilities for the girls belonging to the deprived and underprivileged section of the society. She has also helped many girls learn various skills and knowledge for landing in small-scale jobs. Poonam was earlier bestowed by Femina with the title Femina Mrs. Dynamic Stylista, 2018 in Pune. After winning the crown of Mrs. India Maharashtra, Poonam says she longs to represent the country at Mrs. World pageant which would be held in June 2019 to take the cause of women empowerment further. “I have two sons and besides modeling, I am a teacher too, working as an assistant professor in a college,” shared Poonam. read more posts...
