Mori police nab 4 for smuggling cannabis

The Mori police arrested four drug smugglers allegedly belonging to a gang from a checkpoint near Mori-Bingsari embankment and seized over one kg cannabis from the car they were travelling in.   The operation was led by the Mori station house officer, Mohan Kathayat.   
The arrested accused were identified as Shahnawaz Alam, Javed, Sahbaj and Jitendra Kumar-three from Uttar Pradesh and one from Patel Nagar, Dehradun. Police investigations revealed that they are members of a gang that has been involved in drug trafficking for a long time.

During police interrogation, they further revealed that they used to collect hashish from the hills and then supply it to Dehradun and surrounding areas. These smuggles used two vehicles: one vehicle leads the way and conducts reconnaissance, while the other follows behind carrying the contraband.

Police said that accused Sahabaj had previously been booked under the NDPS Act at Purola police station and had been jailed. A case has been registered against the four accused at Mori police station under sections 8/20/60 of the NDPS Act. A thorough investigation is underway to uncover the gang’s entire supply chain.
