Kedarnath visited by highest number of pilgrims among Char Dham

More than eight lakh people have visited the Char Dham shrines so far. Kedarnath has been visited by the highest number of pilgrims among the Char Dham shrines so far this year.

It will be recalled that rain and snowfall in the higher reaches during the initial days of the Char Dham Yatra had affected the movement of pilgrims to the shrines. The authorities had also temporarily stopped the pilgrimage to Kedarnath for a couple of days due to inclement weather. However, the weather is clear these days and a considerable number of people are visiting the Char Dham shrines. According to information provided by the Tourism department, 8,31,131 people had visited the Char Dham shrines till Sunday evening.

Out of these 45,991 had visited the shrines on Sunday. The total number of pilgrims who have visited the Char Dham shrines so far include 1,59,351 visitors to Yamunotri, 1,73,586 visitors to Gangotri, 2,89,149 visitors to Kedarnath and 2,09,045 visitors to Badrinath. According to information provided by the department, nearly 40,000 persons have been provided OPD services for various health issues in the Char Dham so far. Similarly, a total of 4,498 have received emergency service so far, 341 were treated for injuries and 128 were referred. Further, a total of 2,151 with health issues provided an undertaking to the authorities before proceeding on the pilgrimage.
