More pilgrims than expected arriving in Yatra this year– CM Dhami

The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that more pilgrims are arriving in this year’s Char Dham Yatra than the expectations of the government. He however added that full monitoring of the Yatra is being done at the level of government. The CM was addressing the regional convention of the National Union of Journalists ( India) , Uttarakhand at Pantnagar on Sunday. He said that the Yatra was obstructed for the last two years but this year it has started properly. Dhami said that this year the Yatra would be historic one.  He said that the state government is working as per the promises made to the people at the time of the elections and work in the direction of implementing the uniform civil code in the state has started. Dhami said that unprecedented work in the sector of road construction has occurred in the state. The CM said that soon the people of Udham Singh Nagar would get the facility of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation of a centre of AIIMS in the area.

Terming journalism as an important pillar of democracy, Dhami said that it should be transparent and associated with the general public.

The finance minister Prem Chand Agarwal and the office bearers and members of the National Union of journalists were present in the conclave.
