PMO deputy secretary checks progress in Badrinath master plan works

The deputy secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, MangeshGhildiyal visited Badrinath and inspected the works being executed as part of the Badrinath master plan. Ghildiyal inspected various locations including the Badrinath temple complex, Mana bypass, Badrish and Sheshnag lakes, Alaknanda river banks, Saket intersection, hospital, bus station and other nearby sites. He discussed the proposed construction works in detail with the Chamoli district magistrate and other officials concerned while directing them to ensure that the works are completed on time. He also directed the officials to increase the manpower and number of machines deployed for the works.

The Chamoli district magistrate HimanshuKhurana informed that all the works in the master plan project are to be completed in three phases. The first phase will include execution of works like the lake front development, river front development, arrival plaza, civic amenity centre, loop road, expansion of the hospital and BRO Road. All these works are in progress. The second phase will entail site development around the Badrinath temple while the third phase will include the tasks of constructing Astha Path from the lake to the temple and other works.

Project director of the executing agency, PL Swami informed that the Sheshnag and Badrish lakes will be developed into one big lake and that a garden will also be developed nearby. This will be ready by about October-November.

Later, the district magistrate inspect the Govindghat to Pulna road which leads to Hemkund. He directed the departmental officials to repair the damaged patches of the road without delay. He also directed that the manpower be increased. The sub divisional magistrate Kumkum Joshi, circle officer Dhan Singh Tomar and other officials concerned were also present on the occasion.
