Uttarakhand Congress organised a mega ‘ Samvidhan Bahao’ rally at Rangers ground here on Wednesday. All the senior leaders of the party addressed the rally and former deputy chief minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot was chief guest on the occasion.
In his address, Pilot launched a scathing attack on the Modi government by stating that in the last 11 years the constitutional bodies have been under relentless attack. He said that the agencies such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) have become puppets in the hands of the Modi government. Pilot said that the Congress party has launched a nationwide agitation against the BJP government. He claimed that successive Congress governments had strengthened the Constitution. Pilot said that time has come to uproot the government of arrogance.
He said that the Congress party condemns the Pahalgam incident in which terrorists killed innocent tourists. Pilot said that the union government has accepted the failure of the security and intelligence system in the heinous attack. Pilot said that the Congress party is standing firmly with the government in this hour of crisis and the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has demanded that the government should convene a special session of parliament on the issue.
In his address, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that the president of Uttarakhand BJP has accepted that illegal mining is prevalent in the State and had appreciated the efforts of BJP MLAs in preventing illegal mining. He said that the BJP government of State is immersed neck deep in corruption.
Terming himself as the elderly soldier of the Congress party, former chief minister Harish Rawat said that the BJP government has failed to understand and solve the problems of people of Uttarakhand.
The leader of opposition (LoP) Yashpal Arya said that the Congress party is fighting on the issues of the general public both inside and outside the assembly.
The in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress Kumari Shelja was conspicuous by her absence in the rally.
Former PCC presidents Pritam Singh, Ganesh Godiyal, former cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat, vice president (Organisation) Suryakant Dhasmana, MLAs Vikram Singh Negi, Mamta Rakesh, Tilak Raj Behed and Manoj Tiwari also addressed the rally.
