Modi emphasises on Navratna of Uttarakhand’s development: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during the inaugural ceremony of Vande Bharat Express on Thursday that the central government is emphasising on the Navratna- nine gems- of Uttarakhand’s development, which is intended to give a push to its infrastructure growth. He said that the first three Navratna are rejuvenation work of Rs 1,300 crore at Badrinath and  Kedarnath, ropeway project of Rs 2,500 crore at Gaurikund-Kedarnath and Govindghat – Hemkund Sahib, and the renovation of the ancient temples of Kumaon under Manaskhand Mandir Mala programme respectively.  

The fourth, fifth and sixth Navaratna respectively include the promotion of homestays in the State which has over 4,000 registered homestays, the development of 16 eco-tourism destinations and the expansion of health services. The final three Navratna are the Tehri Lake development project worth Rs 2,000 crore, the development of pilgrim centres- Haridwar and Rishikesh as the capital of Yoga and adventure tourism and finally, the development of Tanakpur – Bageshwar rail line, said Modi. He also talked about the ongoing Char Dham Yatra and said that the number of pilgrims for the Yatra keeps on breaking old records in the State. He said that a huge number of devotees also come for the darshan of Lord Kedarnath, Kumbh and Ardh Kumbh at Haridwar and Kanwad Yatra and not many States have these many devotees arriving in large numbers and it is a gift as well as a monumental task.

“The double engine government is working with double power and double speed to make this ‘Bhageerath’ task easy,” added the PM.
