Moderate rain & snowfall likely today in mountain districts

The high altitude places in Uttarakhand are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall and snowfall on Thursday especially in Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts while the plain districts like Dehradun and Haridwar might experience very light to light rainfall. The director of the meteorological centre in Dehradun, Bikram Singh informed that the weather remained cloudy in most of the districts in the state that slightly escalated the cold on Wednesday but the temperature will drop lower on Thursday as many districts might receive light to moderate precipitation. He said that mainly the areas at and above the altitude of 3,500 metres are expected to experience moderate snowfall. Singh said “The weather will start to get clear on December 3 but some remote areas in mountainous regions can receive very light to light rainfall.

The weather will be clear on December 4 but light to moderate rainfall is expected on December 5. Areas at or below the altitude of 2,500 metres can also experience moderate snowfall on December 5 and 6 along with light to moderate rain in some plain areas.” He added that the weather will be clear on December 7 but the temperature will drop to two to three degrees in plain areas and about seven degrees in mountainous regions. Singh said that plain districts like Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar will also experience fog during mornings from December 7 onwards.
