Mix of rain & heat in store for State today

The weather outlook has remained unchanged in the State with some parts likely to experience moderate rainfall and isolated places forecast to experience heat wave conditions. On Friday too, some places in the mountainous regions received light rain while most places in the plains including Dehradun experienced a hot day.

The State meteorological centre has forecast the possibility of light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm occurring at isolated places in the mountains on Saturday while dry weather is likely to prevail in the plains. Strong and gusty surface winds are likely to occur during the daytime at a few places in the State. The meteorological centre has also issued a warning regarding the possibility of heat wave conditions at isolated places in the State today. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience partly cloudy sky with thunder cloud development/light rain likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 40 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Saturday. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Friday were 40.4 degrees Celsius and 25.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 39.8 degrees Celsius and 26.3 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 29.2 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 29 degrees Celsius and 17.4 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. Meanwhile, there was 19 millimetres rain in Ukhimath, 15 millimetres in Jakholi and five millimetres each in Agastyamuni and Pokhari.
