Mission Indradhanush II to cover 10 districts of U’khand
The intensive immunisation programme to immunise left out children and pregnant women .
Uttarakhand would undertake a four month long intensive immunisation programme to immunise left out children and pregnant women under Mission Indradhanush II programme. The Mission Director (MD) of National Health Mission (NHM), Yugal Kishore Pant while attending a sensitisation workshop held at state health directorate said that the campaign is being undertaken in 271 districts of 27 states and union territories of India. He said that in Uttarakhand, ten districts barring Dehradun, Bageshwar and Nainital would be covered under the campaign. In these districts, 14729 children and 3596 pregnant women, left out from the immunisation exercise would be covered. He said that the campaign would be held in four stages in the months of December, January, February and March. Pant claimed that continuous progress is being made in the field of regular immunisation but this special campaign in being undertaken for the children left out of the regular immunisation programme.
The Director General (DG) health services, Dr Amita Upreti said that Mission Indradhanush is one among top priorities programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he himself is regularly monitoring it. The director of NHM, Dr Anjali Nautiyal said that the immunisation helps in preventing many diseases in children. She said that under Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP), children below the age of two years are covered. The in-charge of Mother and Child Health (MCH) programme, Dr K S Martoliya said that immunisation sessions would be held for seven days (excluding Sundays and holidays) from first Monday of next four months. He informed that 9724 children and 1857 pregnant women in Haridwar district and 3524 children and 1401 pregnant women in Udham Singh Nagar district are targeted under the campaign. State immunisation officer Dr Meenkashi Uniyal, specialist of World Health Organisation (WHO) Dr Vikas Sharma, Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh, J C Pandey and others participated in the programme.
