Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that in today’s digital age where information is in abundance, the challenge of misinformation is also serious. Establishing accurate, timely and reliable communication between the government and the public is the primary responsibility of public relations. In a State like Uttarakhand, which is prone to natural disasters and is strategically sensitive, communication is not merely a formality but the foundation of trust, he said.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the 47th All India Public Relations Conference-2025 on Saturday, Dhami said that today, public relations is not just a medium for disseminating information, but has become an important and effective part of the nation-building process. The CM opined that the future PR system in areas like disaster management, good governance, religious and tourism management will have to be made faster, technically capable and sensitive to public sentiments, so that a relationship of partnership and trust can be established between the government and the public. He expressed confidence that public relations, besides playing the role of a capable command centre in times of crisis, can also play an important role in creating a positive narrative for the country.

The CM also highlighted the state’s development journey and said that the size of the State’s economy is projected to reach about Rs 3.78 lakh crore by 2024–25. The per capita income has also registered a significant increase.  He said that the State government is focussing on infrastructure development and working to establish Uttarakhand as a global destination for religious tourism, wellness, adventure tourism, film shooting and weddings. He stated that initiatives such as the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project, the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, ropeway projects, and airport expansion are fuelling the State’s development.
