Minister Rawat inaugurates first Eat Right Hackathon

 Health and Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat virtually inaugurated the Eat Right Youth Hackathon, Uttarakhand -2026 on the occasion of National Youth day on Monday. The Hackathon aims to promote safe and healthy eating habits in the society.

The Hackathon was organised under joint aegis of Food Safety and Drug Administration department, Nutrition Connect, Academy of Management Studies and GAIN India. 

Addressing the programme, Rawat said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the national campaigns such as Fit India and Eat Right India are promoting a healthy lifestyle in the country. The minister said that Uttarakhand is the first State in the country to organise Hackathon on important issues such as food safety and nutrition.

 “ The innovative state-wide initiative will help in suggesting practical solutions on safe food, nutrition, food wastage and challenges of traditional agriculture,” he said.

The joint director Higher Education, AS Uniyal requested all universities, colleges, medical colleges and other institutes to ensure participation of the students in the important initiative. He said that the institutes should select competent students for the Hackathon. He said that five top teams will be awarded with Rs 1.5 lakh, one lakh, 75000 and 50,000 ( two prizes) and trophies. 

The deputy commissioner of FDA Uttarakhand Ganesh Kandwal said that the department is conducting programmes such as Eat Right Campus, Eat Right School and Eat Right Station in the State for citizen awareness on safe and nutritious food.
