A diabetes awareness programme was organised on the occasion of the World Diabetes day at the auditorium of Military Hospital, Dehradun on Friday.

Lieutenant Dhanya delivered a lecture on diabetes, its symptoms, risk factors and its long-term complications such as kidney disease, nerve damage, heart problems and vision loss. She highlighted the importance of early diagnosis and proper management to prevent serious outcomes.

Dietician Neha gave detailed information on healthy dietary practices, emphasising balanced nutrition, portion control, the importance of fibre-rich foods, and reducing the intake of sugar and refined carbohydrates. She also guided the soldiers on practical meal planning for diabetes prevention and control.

A special role play was performed by Lieutenant Abhinav and his team, demonstrating common lifestyle mistakes and the correct measures for effective diabetes management. The interactive presentation helped the soldiers understand the importance of physical activity, regular blood sugar monitoring, and consistent medical follow-up.

A total of 80 personnel attended the event and gained valuable information on diabetes prevention and healthy living. A small health awareness exhibition was also set up for the troops.
