Active Covid cases continue to rise in the run up to Assembly polls

1,143 new cases, 482 recoveries and one death reported on Sunday

Even as Uttarakhand prepares to go to polls next month, the total number of active Covid-19 cases in the state has continued to rise. The total number of active cases in Uttarakhand increased to 4,118 with 1,413 new cases reported in the state on Sunday along with 482 persons recovering from the infection and one dying from it on the same day. The sample positivity on Sunday was 7.79 per cent with the recovery percentage being 94.80.

According to the Health department, out of the new cases reported on Sunday, 505 were from Dehradun district, 299 from Haridwar, 203 from Udham Singh Nagar, 147 from Pauri, 139 from Nainital, 21 from Almora, 34 from Chamoli, 12 from Champawat, three from Bageshwar, eight from Pithoragarh, 12 from Rudraprayag, 22 from Tehri and eight from Uttarkashi. When it comes to the number of active cases in the districts, Dehradun remains on top with 1,317 cases followed by Nainital with 963 cases and Haridwar with 908 cases. Among the other districts, there are 345 active cases in Udham Singh Nagar, 156 in Pauri, 111 in Pithoragarh, 77 in Almora, 73 in Champawat, 55 in Chamoli, 39 in Tehri, 31 in Uttarkashi, 30 in Bageshwar and 13 in Rudraprayag.

Meanwhile, 30,303 beneficiaries were vaccinated in 642 sessions held in the state on Sunday. So far, 82,18,362 beneficiaries have been partially vaccinated while 65,81,133 have been fully vaccinated. A total of 2,94,480 beneficiaries in the 15 to 17 years age group have been partially vaccinated.

It is pertinent to mention here that the total cumulative positive Covid cases detected so far in Uttarakhand are 3,50,885 out of which 3,32,655 have been treated. The total number of Covid deaths in the state so far is 7,424 (2.12 per cent).
