The Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has taken a string of steps to improve safety, management and environmental protection at the City Forest Park in Dehradun. In a review meeting, a decision was taken to install 360-degree CCTV cameras across the park.

A high-level review meeting was held on Monday with the vice- chairman of MDDA, Banshidhar Tiwari in the chair. The main aim of the meeting was to make the City Forest Park safer, better organised and more visitor-friendly for local residents, tourists and nature lovers, Tiwari said, adding that the City Forest Park is an important environmental asset of Dehradun and its protection should be given top priority.

With MDDA having decided to strengthen security arrangements in the park, additional security personnel will be deployed in the parking area and inside the park. Night security will also be increased to prevent any untoward incidents. A security hut will be set up too at the far end of the park to ensure better monitoring and control.

To improve surveillance, MDDA will install 360-degree CCTV cameras across the park. The IT department has been directed to complete the installation at the earliest. Proper lighting arrangements will also be ensured inside the park so that visitors feel safe during evening and night hours.

The Authority has also decided to improve staff management. All park employees will be required to wear identity cards and a biometric attendance system will be introduced to ensure transparency and discipline. Emergency helpline numbers will be displayed at prominent places inside the park. Fire safety arrangements will also be strengthened.

The MDDA secretary Mohan Singh Barnia said that all the instructions would be implemented in a time-bound manner.
