The Uttarakhand government will provide free medical care to the drivers, conductors and pilgrims arriving from other States during the Char Dham Yatra this year. The Transport department will also provide about additional 350 vehicles including the new buses being bought by the department and buses from neighbouring states to provide a sufficient mode of transportation during the Yatra.

The transport minister Chandan Ram Dass announced this on Monday during the inauguration of the newly constructed air-conditioned waiting room in Rishikesh. He said that Rishikesh is the main operation centre of the Char Dham Yatra for the Transport department as hundreds of vehicle operators from outside states come here to the transport offices to get green cards to operate their vehicles during the Char Dham Yatra season.

Considering the convenience of such visitors, he said, the new waiting room has been constructed in Rishikesh. He said that the government will also arrange rest houses at various places on the respective Char Dham Yatra routes for the passengers and drivers to ensure they get proper rest during their journey. He said that Char Dham Yatra is scheduled to commence on April 22 and the department is taking all measures to make it a worthwhile journey for all pilgrims.
