MCR organises Swadeshi goods fair

The Municipal Corporation of Roorkee (MCR) organised a fair to encourage made in India products as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme. Self help groups put up about 40 stalls int he fair held at Nehru stadium. After inaugurating the fair, the Roorkee mayor Gaurav Goel said that the use of handmade Swadeshi products is all the more important in the current times. He said that both the Central and State governments are undertaking various important works to encourage Swadeshi products. The government is also providing interest free loans to encourage development of the cottage industry in the state, he added.

The local MLA Pradeep Batra said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat are directing various schemes to encourage Swadeshi products. This will ensure that the poorer sections of society benefit and become self reliant. Municipal commissioner Noopur Verma said that the MCR had organised this fair to encourage domestic hand made products. This would facilitate self employment opportunities through self help groups, she added.
