MCH undertakes massive cleanliness drive of Haridwar Ghats

 In a massive cleanliness drive after the completion of the bath of Kartik Purnima, the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) collected about 100 metric tonnes of garbage from Har ki Paidi and adjoining Ghats on Tuesday night.  The drive was carried out in areas like Malviya Ghat, Kangra Ghat, Ghantaghar, Gau Ghat and Rodibelwala areas  The Chief Municipal Commissioner Dayanand Saraswati and Assistant Municipal Commissioner Shyam Sundar led the drive. 

 As per the official estimates about 16 lakh devotees took a bath in River Ganga on the occasion of Kartik Purnima, Lunar eclipse and Guruparv on Tuesday. 

 As soon as the fair was over, the MCH started a cleanliness drive on a war footing. After cleaning the Ghats, the MCH workers also sprayed insecticides.  About 100 employees took part in the cleanliness drive. 

Assistant Municipal Commissioner Shyam Sundar said that cleaning work started on Tuesday night and after the drive the Ghats have become completely clean.
