The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will issue a work order next week to a new company for door to door garbage collection service in 47 wards out of 100 wards after processing the application of six companies received through the tender floated last month. The work in these wards is likely to commence from the last week of December or from January next year.

The MCD recently handed over operation of the solid waste management and recycling plant in Sheeshambada to a Bhopal based agency from Ramky Enviro Engineers Limited (REEL) and will soon replace its sister company Chennai MSW Private Limited which currently manages door to door garbage collection service in 47 wards. The corporation floated the tender last month which opened on Wednesday.

According to the chief municipal health officer Dr Avinash Khanna, a total of six companies have shown interest in running the door to door service through the recent tender. He said that all the details provided by these companies in the tender are being checked and analysed by the MCD team which will take a few days. He said that the whole process might take at least five to seven days and then more procedures will be followed after the selection of the new company. He said, “The corporation will definitely issue a work order for the selected company by the end of the next week. Following the necessary procedures, the new company will commence the door to door service likely from the end of this month or from January next year.”
