MCD to hold salary of officers for failing to collect garbage from roadside

PIONEEREDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will not issue the salary of officers and staff concerned on days when garbage is not collected from public areas on time. The Dehradun municipal commissioner Namami Bansal conducted a surprise inspection of the Raipur area on Wednesday morning and found large amounts of garbage scattered across the locality.

The inspection revealed that regular garbage collection was not being carried out properly. Bansal expressed strong disapproval of the situation and stated that such negligence in sanitation work is unacceptable under any circumstances. She warned that failing to maintain proper cleanliness violates MCD orders and negatively affects the functioning of the municipal corporation.

She issued strict instructions to all senior sanitation inspectors, sanitation inspectors, and sanitation staff to ensure that garbage collected daily is picked up on time and completely. She emphasised that any future negligence will result in non-payment of the employees’ salaries for that day, with full responsibility resting on them.

The commissioner also appealed to citizens to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness and to hand over garbage to municipal collection vehicles at designated times, ensuring the city remains clean.
