The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) organised an Art for Awareness programme under Swachchh Survekshan to promote waste reduction on Sunday in Gandhi Park. Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ and the municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal inaugurated the event. Speaking on the occasion, the mayor said that the programme was organised in association with the Waste Warriors Society with an objective to raise awareness on waste generation and reduction in the city through art as a medium. Several children and young students showcased their creativity through their respective arts that include photography, painting, street play and jingles.
There were also five stalls set up showcasing various mediums that can help in waste reduction in day to day life. Representatives of some organisations also promoted a plastic-free lifestyle through their products made of natural materials. The members of the sanitation team of MCD were also present in the programme to spread awareness in the event.
