MCD orders removal of disorganised internet, cable wires

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Tuesday ordered the removal and re-arrangement of disorganised internet and cable wires spread across major city roads. The directive was issued during a meeting chaired by municipal commissioner Namami Bansal which was also attended by representatives of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), traffic police, internet operators and cable operators. Bansal instructed agencies to organise the wiring immediately to support smooth traffic movement and ensure public safety. She asked operators to remove unnecessary and damaged wires to prevent disruption to the city’s appearance. She directed the land section of the corporation to ensure regular monitoring of different areas and take phased action based on the state of the wiring. The directed the officials concerned to coordinate with UPCL and other departments concerned to collect data on operators who have been issued no objection certificates for cabling in designated areas. Bansal said that this will help prevent future irregularities. The commissioner said that the corporation will not tolerate any laxity regarding public works. She urged all departments and operators to work together to support efforts to maintain an orderly city.
