MCD likely to close disaster control room by September end

With the monsoon on the wane, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is likely to close the services of the disaster control room which was especially set up for redressing the waterlogging issues in Dehradun at the end of this month. In June, the corporation started the disaster control room and set it up in Town Hall to enable the locals to easily contact MCD for the waterlogging issues which are quite common during the rainy season especially on days which experience heavy rain. At present, the MCD is still getting about 10 to 15 complaints every day and so far, the corporation has received hundreds of complaints day and night. The MCD officials stated that this set up was to help locals to get an immediate solution to waterlogging issues 24/7 during the rainy season and as the rain will be considerably low by the end of September, there would be no need for the services of this control room. However, as per the officials, the local residents can still call MCD for the said issues on other numbers too. It is pertinent to mention here that the locals can approach MCD to complain through the telephone number 0135-2652571 and toll free number 18001804153.
