MCD issues 20 notices for defacement of public property
The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Thursday issued notices to 20 people and institutions who have pasted posters and flyers on walls in the city. Actions will also be taken against the people/institutions who have defaced public properties by painting the walls for advertisements, warned the MCD.
The offenders have been given a time of three days in which they have to remove the posters and flyers which they have pasted on the walls. As per the orders of municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, fine will be imposed on those who will fail to do so. Under the Uttaranchal Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act, 2003, legal actions will be taken against those who will fail to pay the penalty.
The notices were issued by the MCD in the wake of complaints made by the concerned citizens of the city. It is pertinent to mention that requests have been made to the authorities by the citizens to take actions against these people and institutions who are defacing the public property by pasting posters and flyers. Many complained that this is a blot to the clean and green Doon campaign taken up by the MCD.
