PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) imposed a penalty of Rs 20,000 on a man Narendra for illegally dumping a tractor trolley filled with garbage outside a Honda service centre near Brahmakamal Chowk on Rajpur Road on Thursday. The man was dumping the garbage around 7 AM. The corporation acted swiftly after spotting the violation and issued a challan under its anti-littering drive, the Dehradun chief municipal health officer Dr Avinsah Khanna said.

Roadside dumping continues to be a major challenge in Dehradun, particularly along busy stretches such as Rajpur Road. Despite regular appeals and strict monitoring, several individuals and commercial establishments still resort to disposing of waste on public roads instead of following proper collection and disposal systems. This not only spoils the city’s appearance but also creates health and environmental hazards.

Khanna said that the corporation has repeatedly emphasised that it is determined to curb such practices through strict penalties. Residents and businesses have been warned to cooperate with municipal guidelines and ensure waste is handed over to authorised collectors. He also urged citizens to take responsibility for keeping the city clean and to report any violations.
