The Kotdwar police arrested two persons from the Degree College Road with about seven grammes of smack on Monday. According to police, Abhishek (24) and Mayank Budakoti (23) were caught with smack. The Kotwali police registered a case against the two under the NDPS Act. The arrested accused told the police during questioning that they had purchased the contraband in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The police said that the accused were being produced in the court and their past was also being checked. Observers point out that most of the contraband, especially smack, is being sourced from Bareilly in the neighbouring State. The police may continue to nab petty peddlers in Kotdwar and other parts of the Pauri district, but the trend will continue until the source is acted upon.
