Mayor launches special sanitation drive in Dehradun

Fortnight-long drive o be conducted in all 100 wards

A fortnight-long special sanitation campaign was launched from the Clock Tower by Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ along with public representatives, citizens, municipal officials and staff on Thursday. Taking the lead, the mayor also participated in the cleaning of various parks near the Clock Tower and statues therein. According to municipal officials, the fortnight long special sanitation campaign launched on the birthday of the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat will be conducted in the 100 municipal wards. Teams formed under 11 health inspectors and supervisors undertook cleaning of roadside drains, a collection of trash and other related tasks in various localities including Raipur Road, Milan Vihar, Pritam Road, Police Lines, Chakrata Road, Sevak Ashram, Deepnagar, Navada, Tunwala, Dharmpur and Nehru Colony among other areas. In addition to this, 217 challans were issued and Rs 48,500 was collected in penalty for littering and use of banned polythene with 15 kilogrammes of the banned polythene also being seized. Along with the mayor, MLA Khajan Das and municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar Jogdande were also present at the launch of the special sanitation drive.
