PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

At a time when the arrival of the monsoon is expected soon, several roads in Dehradun are currently dug up, leading to mud and waterlogging during rain. In view of this, Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal directed officials to complete the ongoing roadworks and clean drains and rivers across the city.

The mayor held a meeting with officials from Jal Sansthan, Public Works Department and other departments and agencies concerned to address issues related to waterlogging and incomplete public works.

The municipal commissioner Namami Bansal and chief municipal health officer Dr Avinsah Khanna were also present at the meeting. The mayor said in the meeting that multiple roads have been dug up for sewer line installations by different departments for weeks, causing inconvenience to residents across the city.

The mayor instructed all departments and agencies concerned to restore these roads before further rainfall. He also directed officials to clear drains in neighbourhoods to prevent water stagnation. He stated during the meeting that the city should not face waterlogging during the monsoon and asked municipal officers to ensure timely completion of all pending work.
