Man loses Rs 3.69 lakh after clicking fake RTO challan link

A case of online fraud has come to light in Dehradun, where a man lost nearly Rs three lakh after clicking on a fake RTO challan link sent to his mobile phone. The victim has lodged a complaint at the Cyber Crime Police Station and police have registered a case and started an investigation.

According to the complaint, Subodh Rawat, a resident of Dehradun, received a message on December 27, 2025 from an unknown number. The message contained a link claiming to be related to an RTO challan. As soon as he clicked on the link, money was withdrawn from his bank account in four transactions within a few minutes.

The total amount withdrawn was Rs 3,68,882. The police registered a zero-fire in the case and later the FIR was transferred to Nehru Colony police station.
