Maj Gen Gill assumes charge of GoC Uttarakhand Sub Area

Major General MPS Gill took charge as the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Uttarakhand Sub Area on Monday. He succeeds Major General R Prem Raj.
After taking charge, he visited the Shaurya Sthal where he paid homage to the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the country.
An alumnus of the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, and the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, Gill was commissioned into the 18 Mechanised Infantry on December 16, 1989. In his distinguished career he has commanded both a mechanised infantry battalion and an armoured brigade on the western front.
He has completed several premier military courses, including at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the higher command course at the Army War College, Mhow and the National Defence College (Foreign), Bangladesh.
He has held several key staff and instructional appointments, including director in the Military Operations Directorate, New Delhi and others. The GoC has also played a pivotal role in establishing the Perception Management directorate at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff.
“Major General Gill will focus on the integration of advanced technologies across military domains and the national vision of Atmanirbharta. He also places strong emphasis on the welfare of veterans and Veer Naris, while fostering close cooperation with the state administration,’’ a communique from the Army said.
