Maintaining original & historical form of Joshimath government’s priority: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that maintaining the original and historical form of Joshimath is a priority of the Central and State governments. With the cooperation of the Centre, the State has received a sum of Rs 1,700 crore for reconstruction and development in Joshimath, he said. Dhami was addressing the public in support of the BJP’s Garhwal Lok Sabha candidate Anil Baluni at Joshimath in Chamoli district on Tuesday.

Dhami said that as a Rajya Sabha member, Baluni had facilitated various works for this region. “During the disaster, I had myself camped in Joshimath and talked to the people in all the camps and the hospital. Joshimath is the land of Narsinh Devta and Adi Shankaracharya, in addition to being historically and strategically important. PM Narendra Modi and Home minister Amit Shah are concerned about maintaining the original and historical form of Joshimath and Rs 1,700 crore was received from the Centre for reconstruction, new constructions and development works here. Whatever work is needed for Joshimath will be undertaken on a priority basis,” he said.

Stating that PM Modi had visited Chamoli district on various occasions, he said that reconstruction works are underway in Badrinath while roadworks till Mana are also underway. Dhami said that a considerable difference has been made in the lives of the people due to the developments facilitated by the Modi government. He referred to the tap water, cooking gas connections and free medical treatment costing upto Rs five lakh in a year being facilitated for citizens.
