Uttarakhand Public Works and Irrigation minister Satpal Maharaj said that Singtali bridge, to be constructed at Yamkeshwar in Pauri district, will reduce the distance between Garhwal and Kumaon. He said that the 150-metre long bridge, proposed on the Kaudiyal-Vyas Ghat motor road, has received approval with a sanctioned cost of Rs 57.12 crore. Maharaj stated that the bridge will serve as a key connectivity point for local residents and travellers. People in the region had been demanding its construction for a long time and the Public Works Department (PWD) has been instructed to begin the work without delay. The minister stated that the bridge across the Ganga river will not only link the Garhwal and Kumaon regions but also reduce travel distance and save fuel. Over 25 lakh people across more than 35 Assembly constituencies are expected to benefit directly from the project. Expressing gratitude to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for approving the project, Maharaj said that the bridge will shorten the Dehradun-Ramnagar route by nearly 45 kilometres. He added that the project will also support tourism in areas like Dwarikhal and Yamkeshwar block and create employment opportunities in the Ganga valley region.
