Local Pradhan dies in road accident, companion injured
In a road accident reported on Tuesday afternoon at Mori police station, a recently elected Gram Pradhan from Khanyasani village was found dead. According to local police, his body was found about a kilometre below the road level.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year old Ajab Singh. According to local police he was reportedly coming back from Sakri to Mori, when the driver lost control of the car and it fell off the mountain into a 200-metre deep gorge. Police further stated that prima facie it was found that the two persons in the car were reportedly under the influence of alcohol and were coming back at about 9:30 pm on Monday night.
The police received information about the accident on Tuesday afternoon, as the accident area is in a wooded area which seldom sees traffic after 7 pm.
Clearing air on the whereabouts of injured person, Uttarkashi Superintendent of Police (SP) Pankaj Bhatt said that as information about the accident was received late, by the time police reached the accident site, the local villagers had already transported the injured to the local community hospital at Mori.
Initially, there was some confusion, but the injured is out of any immediate danger.
It is pertinent to mention here that the deceased Pradhan was elected unopposed in the recent Panchayat elections.
19-year-old dies in road accident, companion hurt
A 19-year-old died in a road accident reported at 2:30 am on Wednesday at Rajpur police station, while his companion is in a serious condition undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Abhay Kumar, resident of Nai Basti, Rota Road, Meerut while the accused is Ashish Sharma, resident of IT Park, Canal Road, Dehradun.
According to the information provided by local police, they received information that near Bala Sundari Mandir, a motorcycle had skidded leaving two young men injured. Both the injured were taken to a private hospital where Abhay succumbed to his injuries.
