Deliberation on folk songs and literature held
Celebrated folk singer Narendra Singh Negi has said that the evolution of local languages from folk songs in the mid Himalayan region called Kedarkhand in ancient times is a subject matter of research. He said that it is a matter of great satisfaction that a private member bill is being produced in Lok Sabha to include Garhwali and Kumaoni languages in VIII schedule of constitution. Negi was speaking on the second day of the literature conference at ITDA auditorium here on Saturday. The programme is being organised under the aegis of department of culture of Uttarakhand. The director culture, Beena Bhatt, folk singer Pritam Baratwan and others were present on the day. Deliberation of local languages and literature were held during the event.
At end of the programme the tourism and culture minister Satpal Maharaj felicitated the speakers.
