The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has said that the state government should take the initiative to break the deadlock created by the agitation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) employees. These workers are on a path of agitation for the last 61 days. He said that the Government Order (GO) released by the additional chief secretary Manisha Panwar is deplorable in which it is mentioned that the MNREGS workers would be employed through an outsourcing agency.

The PCC chief said that the development works in the rural areas have been hampered by the agitation of these workers. He said that the MNREGS is an employment generation scheme and due to the prevailing situation of pandemic the return of migrants have started and these workers can play an important role in providing employment to the returnees. Singh said that due to the strike of 1300 workers all development works have ceased and immediate steps to break the deadlock should be taken.
