Light rain/snowfall forecast in five districts today

Even as various parts of the state received light rainfall on Thursday, the State meteorological centre has forecast the possibility of very light to light rain/snowfall  at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Friday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the state while snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 2,200 metres and above.

The provisional state capital Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear to partly cloudy skies. Mist/shallow fog is likely to occur in some parts of the plains while the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 18 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius respectively on Friday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places on Thursday were 17.8 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 16.1 degrees Celsius and 9.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 3.7 degrees Celsius and 1.7 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 6.8 degrees Celsius and 4.2 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. Pantnagar received 2.1 millimetres of rain, Mukteshwar received three millimetres, New Tehri 0.4 millimetres while there as 13.5 millimetres of rain in Lohaghat, 12 millimetres in Champawat, 11.5 millimetres in Chalthi, 5.5 millimetresin Jankichatti, five millimetres in Bhimtal and 4.5 millimetres in Chorgaliya.
