Leaders stress on unity in first meeting of new PCC

Make Congress a cadre based party from present leader based party- Mahara

The first meeting of the newly elected delegates of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) was organised at Rajiv Bhawan here on Friday. The meeting was chaired by the PCC president Karan Mahara. The State returning officer for the organisational elections, GC Chandrashekhar and the leader of opposition (LoP) in State Assembly Yashpal Arya also participated in the meeting.

 A unanimous resolution was passed in the meeting in which the national president of Congress party was authorised to nominate PCC president, All India Congress Committee (AICC) members and PCC members.

 Speaking on the occasion, Arya congratulated the PCC delegates and expressed confidence that they would propagate the ideology, policies and principles of the Congress party.

Mahara said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is the only leader after Mahatma Gandhi who has undertaken a 3,600 kilometre Yatra on foot for keeping the country united. Exhorting the delegates to keep the morale of the party workers high, Mahara said that the party organisation of the State deserves praise for successful organisation of Tiranga Yatra. He thanked the Chandrashekhar for selection of the capable delegates. He said that the Congress should be made a cadre based party from the present leader based party. Mahara said that everyone should follow the Mantra of ‘party first, party workers second and leader third’ for keeping the party strong and united.

Chandrashekar said that the PCC president needs support of everyone and added that no organisation can function without cooperation.
