Last-minute shoppers throng city markets for Rakshabandhan

In preparation for Rakshabandhan to he celebrated today, last-minute shoppers thronged Dehradun’s major markets, such as Paltan Bazaar and Raja Road for shopping on Friday. The day saw a significant influx of customers at clothing, Rakhi and various other shops. Additionally, many shops in these areas were decorated with Rakhis and other festive items.
In light of this, Rakhi shop owner Kartik Nanda expressed his enthusiasm about the high volume of customers who flocked to his store to complete their last-minute purchases for the celebration. He said that with only one day remaining until Rakshabandhan, shoppers had crowded the market, resulting in nearly 80 per cent of his Rakhis being sold at his shop on Friday. He highlighted that his shop offers a wide array of Rakhi designs at various price points.
Additionally, local resident Vimla Bansal said that she visited the market to put the finishing touches on her Rakhi preparations. She said that she had previously gone to buy Rakhis for her brothers and now her last-minute shopping involved sweets, clothing and various other items. She expressed her excitement about celebrating Rakshabandhan with enthusiasm.
In addition to clothing and Rakhi shops, there was also a noticeable crowd around the Mehndi artists who set up stalls in the market. A Mehndi artist named Raju said that every year during Rakshabandhan, the demand for Mehndi applications among women increases. This year is no different, as he observed a significant number of women visiting his stall for Mehndi application with only one day left until the celebration.
A resident named Samiksha expressed excitement over applying Mehndi for the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. She said that every year on Raksha Bandhan, she visits the market to ensure she applies Mehndi on her hand.
